Is Steve accepting visitors?
Steve is now (21 July 2008) out of Providence in a facility at 102nd and SE Burnside. He is accepting visitors, and is generally happy to see you. He is in Room 12. Groups of two or three are best. He appears to tucker out quickly at times, yet is reluctant to ask folks to leave. Use common sense and he seems to enjoy the company a great deal.
Does Steve have family with him?
Yes, his dad and stepmom are in from Las Vegas to be with him. Steve’s mom and stepdad live just outside of Salem. He also has a brother living in Vancouver. They’ve all been by his side through this.
Has therapy begun yet?
Yes. He has had a physical therapist as well as speech therapist working with him since the day of the second, major, stroke.
Is he lucid, cognizant, aware of his surroundings, etcetera?
Yes. He knows what is going on with regard to treatment. He is working with his therapists. He’s laughing at jokes.
Steve is a member of a scooter club as well as a member of a moped gang. Are 2 stroke jokes appropriate?
I should think you’ll have your answer as soon as Steve can make a fist with his right hand.
Is he able to speak?
Yes. He has a few single words and phrases available. Yes and no are pretty easy for him. He is able to communicate what he wants/needs, but it is an unfunny version of 20 questions.
Is he showing signs of progress?
Yes. Each day he has made some advancement.
I have some photos I’d like to contribute of where Steve touched me. How do I do that?
Upload your photo to Flickr, and tag it with “stevetouchedmehere”. It will automatically be added to the page. If you don’t have a Flickr account, or can’t figure it out, you can email the photo to potentato [at] gmail.com
I would like to donate items for any fundraising raffles for Steve. Where do I send them?
