Steve update

Steve is gradually improving every time I see him.  He’s moved from pureed food to chopped food.  He was also able to feed himself a banana.  They’ve been taking things slow to make sure that he doesn’t get food lost in his right cheek that might cause him trouble later.

He has also been moving his right arm and leg both.  He’s not really using them yet, but he is moving them in order to get more comfortable.  That’s great progress.

His words are still few and far between.  “No” is still the easiest word for him to say — even when he means to say yes. Every day he’s regaining another word.

He’s back in the neurology department receiving excellent care.  He’s happily receiving visitors, 2 or 3 at a time.  If there’s already a few people in there, or he’s eating or getting physical/speech therapy, hang out in the hallway for a while.  Keep things mellow and only one conversation in the room at a time.

The Scooter-Relief.org donations have (as I write this) gotten over $3,350 to help with Steve’s pending financial needs but more is still needed.  We’re putting together a fund-raiser at Plan B on August 7th, with music, raffle and more.  We’re even trying to work in a burlesque show.  We’re planning other fund-raisers after that.  Some rallies are donating money as well.

Thanks to everyone who has been helping along the way.  You’re an awesome community!

Please post or let me know when the date, time, and place have been confirmed for the fund-raiser. I have a friend that has offered me free advertising space on her business’ website for the fund-raiser.
The website is BarFlymag.com if you want to check it out first.
